Ages: 11-14

Meets on Zoom on Friday, Sept 11th, 12:00-12:50pm Pacific Time (3pm Eastern).

Led by Shannon Marie Dugan, a San Francisco State University senior in Political Science and Philosophy and co-hosted by Paradox Lab founder, Dr. Iris Oved.

In this one-session online discussion class, students will explore what it means to be a just person and whether there are personal benefits to being just. We start with a thought experiment called “Ring of Gyges” from Plato’s Republic, in which the character discovers a ring that he can use to turn himself invisible. What would you use the ring to do? To steal, to cheat, to get ahead in life? Students will use an Inquiry Diagram (shown to the right) to map their ideas.

Refund Policy: Full refund up to 48 hours prior to first session.

****Note: For this class to work, we must have at minimum 3 students enrolled. If this minimum is not reached by 48 hours prior to the first session, we will cancel and issue a full refund.
